Their storytelling and the rich lore of every game world (Avernum, Lynaeas, etc) is fantastic. I've clocked up over 30 hours and haven't even finished yet. Whilst the graphics and lack of music might put some people off, and the style of game might not be for everyone, I can't recommend this game enough.. Another solid cRPG by Spiderweb. If you've played any of the others (Geneforge, Avernum, or Avadon) you know what to expect and whether you'll like these types of games. If you've never played one of these before, they are all great series (though some are more dated than others). Lots of writing, excellent lore, and a good story awaits!. A great game. That experience was fantastic! Some people says you can play Avadon games speratly. I strongly disagree. The 3 games are one, huge story divided in 3 parts. And the conclusion is really satisfying!Feels like completing a trilogy of immense novels. To make a long story short : Avadon : The Black Fortress was a great game, Avadon 2 : The Corruption even better and this one is definately the best. The same core ideas are there : mission-based railroad within open-ended locations, choices that matters, relationship with companions that leads toward side-quests and hard choices. Yet, if Avadon 2 was a revisiting of Avadon 1 with some different skinning, here, with Avadon 3, things are handled a bit differently : all the companions quests are very different in tone and scope (some are very, very short), the side-quest are more organicaly entwined within the world, and the mechanics have been updated : the build system for characters had been improved through nice streamlining, and some new features added some puzzle-solving elements to the to tactical compbats.I just loved this trilogy. I strongly suggest it to anyone wanting a "litterary experience" to it's gaming, Remind me of Joe Dever's Lone Wolf gaming books, not for the vibe nor the setting or the the story, but for the "wholeness" of it's rpg story-telling.Great game!. More of the same. If you like other Spiderweb Software games, like I do, you'll enjoy this one too.. This game is a port from an Ipad game, which explains many things. In some ways the graphics are a step back from the previous Spiderweb games (and I have most of them) because of the Ipad properties like no enhancements when mousing over choices and poor sprites and no zoom and a minimap dificult to read. If you don't mind twenty-year old graphics and like games with a good storyline and very much text, then you will probably like this game.. A fine game from a fine studio, More than worth the price asked, and being honest, i have never felt like i lost my money when playing his games. Im a hard Core avernum fan above all. That will always be my first love so to speak. But i enjoyed all his series and hope for more in the future. Not only am i excited to finally play avernum 3 after its remade, but it shall be interesting what comes after that.. This, unfortunately, is what I expected out of the first game. I hated the first one and lost patience with the second one. Quite frankly, this trilogy should have been dubbed 'The Chronicles of Redbeard' as it is primarily about him and how his misrule lead to lasting problems for the Pact he was supposed to serve.. Like all of the Avadon series this game is about the story and story it has. It's telling the story of a land and it's people and you can be an influence in it too. What you do really affects and makes a difference. Are you a fan of stories that are a bit more about the "Gray area" of morality? Then Avadon is a story you might want to engage in!This is the third in the series and I do HIGHLY reccomend you've played through 1 and 2 (Or at least most of them) else a lot of what is done in this will feel a little odd. While the game can stand alone without knowing the history I've found having played the previous two it definitely helps. Very good combat strategy required and the slight changes they've made to how mana and health are both regenerated and treated in combat are improvements over the previous. Definitely this has been one of my favorites in the series so far! I do love the character of Red Beard and it's hard to say is he the good guy or the bad guy? You can be the judge of it... who REALLY is the bad guy in all this? That's up to you to decide because in the end it's just what you believe.... Been six hours into the game, for now it seem to be the best of the Avadon game's !!
